There are times when the best way to resolve a problem is simply by bashing an antagonist over and over with a hard metal object until your antagonist is either dead, dying or at least unconscious. For that, you need to enter combat. In d20 Advanced, the rules for combat attempt to strike a balance between creating exciting and interesting battles with lots of options for players to use to perform different maneuvers while still keeping the rules simple and fast-paced and (most important of all) fun.
If you choose not to include combat as an important part of your game, see the Low-Combat Games Mini Module for ways to resolve combat challenges as skill checks.
Since combat is essentially an extended set of skill checks between PCs and NPCs, it isn't possible to use this module only for NPCs. You can, however, only open Combat Feats to NPCs, particularly if you are only using Feats for NPCs.
This module should provide you with a simple yet robust combat experience, covering attacks, damage, resistances, and movement. The Basic Combat Module requires the use of the Skills Module to work, and the Combat Feats require the Feats Module. |
